"Lucky Dog is Adopted"

From our local newspaper - a summary of a news article in The Tenino Independent, 70 years ago on January 24, 1941 --

Dick Morgan's dog, left to wander aimlessly about, looking for the master who never would return, after the death of Mr. Morgan, need no longer imagine himself friendless or homeless.…

So many persons wanted to take the dog, that finally Smith Hull held a raffle at the high school to decide just who would be the lucky one. Mrs. Edith Parkins, who had before offered to take him in, drew the winning number, "13".
